Trevor’s Trials is a project created for a local game jam hosted between students at Cardiff Metropolitan University, with the theme Nanoparticles in space!
Trevor’s Trials is a puzzle platformer developed by a team of 3 people in which the player must change the size of Trevor the nanoparticle to progress across different levels.
During this project I was responsible for:
- Trevor movement and size change
- Level design
- Player respawning
- Player score stats

The mechanics of Trevor’s movement and size changing were both my responsibility. The movement is a 3rd person camera with directional movement being shifted based on the camera’s perspective.

The levels were designed to force the player to switch between small, medium and large sizes in order to progress.
The space aspect of the game was achieved using simple techniques due to time limitations, those being a skybox to provide a starry sky and texturing the environment with moon-like materials.

Each level ends with Trevor falling into a hole marked with a flag; this then takes the player to the score screen, where the player’s score is derived from the time taken to complete the level and the number of times Trevor fell off the level and had to be respawned.
